Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Lancashire are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Lancashire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary by vehicle type, with potential additional charges for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category, held for the minimum period stated in the Rental Agreement, is required. Renters must also present valid identification and proof of current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Lancashire office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Collecting and Returning Vehicles
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage identified will be evaluated and charged accordingly. You should return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you foresee a delay. You will be held accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You can find complete coverage details and any excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options carefully. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For exact details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it is not intended for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English law, Car Hire Lancashire is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence or fraud.
9. Lancashire Law Applicability
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
